Greetings from Pink Inc.
For more than 25 years now, Pink Inc. has been designing and manufacturing tension fabric structures, creative solutions for staging, décor, exhibits, tradeshows, corporate meetings, conferences and much more. In this new little newsletter, we are very excited to share news, trends, case studies, and our take on what makes great, memorable events.

And we’d love you to share your design and event experiences with us as well. Let’s keep in touch.

Trends and News
Fabric architecture is hot! It’s visually stunning, versatile, cost-effective and getting greener all the time. Its many applications are perfectly captured in Fabric Architecture: Creative Resources for Shade, Signage, and Shelter by Samuel J. Armijos, a terrific book just published this fall. It describes and shows a wide range of fabric architecture—from giant outdoor structures to temporary tents and décor and exhibit elements. There are more than 450 photos and includes an insert with six fabric samples (very clever!). And—tooting our own horn alert!—quite a few mentions and photos of Pink Inc.’s installations.

And, all you like-minded event geeks out there— be on the lookout for The Art of Celebration: The Making of a Gala New York Style by Panache Partners out on November 20, 2008. This publication—with an oversized, coffee table-book format, looks at event production from the inside out, detailing the myriad details that go into executing a successful event—and the precise timing and coordination required. We’re really excited about this one—check out this short preview video. And here, too, we have a nice spread of our work. Very exciting!

Pink Inc. Product Spotlight

Butterfly Costume
We just premiered a butterfly costume, a very, very tall, fantastical butterfly that offers great fun with a dramatic and theatrical flair—perfect for those very special events. The finished product contains lighted areas made possible by a flat illuminating panel stitched inside.

Imagine this butterfly directing your event traffic at night! This wonderful collaboration with Acroback, a NY-based performance design firm, premiered at Bizbash NYC 2008.
The Coves
We are also very pleased to offer The Coves, one of the newest additions to our product line (both for rent and sale). Originally designed for Nautica—talk about a perfect fit, pun intended—this design incorporated the look and feel of the brand: full, billowy sail-like forms.

The Coves help create intimate space within and a dynamic space outside. The structures also soften areas and, when illuminated, create exactly the ambiance you envision.

Project Spotlight

October was really an exciting month: Imagine eight trade events in 10 days!!
Here are just a few:

LDI - Lighting Design International 2008 was a perfect venue for us to show off the versatility and creativity of tension fabric. And here we chose to highlight our DNA Series, columns that offer richly textured visuals for backdrops, walls and uprights. They pack up small and are easily transported. And, like so many of our pieces, lighting only enhances the fabric’s surfaces and textures.

We also took a little trip to Los Angeles to attend –and exhibit at—The Event Design Summit in October, which was very, very cool. Here are just a few reasons: Everyone who is anyone in the design and event world attends this gig every year. Lots of valuable information from industry leaders. Terrific information sharing and networking opportunities. Hot venue. And the décor was outstanding!! (Pink Inc. did the décor!)

Halloween
Either you love it or hate it. We LOVE it. A dozen of us Pink Inc’ers and extended family headed out and had tons of fun.

Check out the night from a Jellyfish’s point of view!

A word from Debra

Seems we can’t go anywhere without hearing about going green or greener—at least not in the event world. And that is very good news for everyone. But there is much more to do. For Pink Inc., the key is Rethink design, Reduce weight and freight, Rent, reuse and repurpose products, and Recycle materials. My hope is that event planners and designers will collaborate more in the coming year to figure out new and better eco-friendly practices.
